Railway Lines

There are two railway lines available in Nagoya in addition to the JR Line. The Meitetsu Line covers Aichi and Gifu, while the Kintetsu Line is linked to Mie and the Kansai area. The JR Tokaido Line connects to the Nagoya subway system at Nagoya Station and Kanayama Station. The JR Chuo Line connects to the Nagoya subway system at Nagoya Station, Kanayama Station, Tsurumai Station, Chikusa Station and Ozone Station. The Meitetsu Line connects to the Nagoya subway system at Nagoya Station, Kanayama Station, Sakae Station and Ozone Station. The Tsurumai subway line is connected to the Meitetsu Line at Akaike Station and Kamiotai Station, providing easy access to the Inuyama and Toyota areas. The Kintetsu Line that is linked to Mie, Nara and Osaka, is connected to the Nagoya subway system at Hatta Station and Nagoya Station.

City Bus

The major bus terminals for the city buses are Nagoya station and Sakae (at Oasis 21 or Funsui-Minami). The fare for one trip is ¥200. City bus service also radiates out from major subway stations. The Meitetsu Bus Center (south of Nagoya Station), the terminal for the Meitetsu Bus, Highway Bus and other buses, offers convenient bus services for travelers. For travelers who want to get around and enjoy sightseeing in Nagoya, taking the Nagoya Sightseeing Route Bus, "Mei-guru Bus" is the solution.

The Aonami Line

The 15.2km Aonami railroad Line runs from Nagoya Station through western Nagoya to the Minato area. The Port of Nagoya's Kinjo Pier is located in the Minato area and can be reached in 24 minutes. One at Kinjo Pier tourists can enjoy such attractions as the Nagoya International Exhibition Hall, Nagoya Port Messe.

Subway

Nagoya is served by six municipal subway lines: the Higashiyama Line, the Meijo Line, the Meiko Line, the Tsurumai Line, the Sakura-dori Line and the Kamiida Line. Completed in October 2004, the Meijo Line became the first subway loop line in Japan. The Meijo Line is connected to all the subway lines at several main stations including Sakae, Motoyama and Kanayama and gives easy access to all of Nagoya. Main sightseeing spots are within walking distance from subway stations. The fare for a subway ride varies from 200 yen for the first zone to 320 yen for five zones. You should consider purchasing any of the two types of pre-paid cards (One-Day Ticket and Weekend Eco Pass) to get the best fares. "Manaca" IC ticket is available both the city buses and the Subways. A "One-Day Ticket", either a One-Day Bus & Subway combination ticket (¥850) or a One-Day Subway Ticket (¥740) allows you to make as many trips as you like in one day. The Weekend Eco Pass (¥600) is available for unlimited rides on city buses and subway lines on the 8th of every month (Environment Protection Day), Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.

The Nagoya Sightseeing Route Bus, "Mei-guru Bus"

If you wish to see popular sightseeing spots in Nagoya, the "Mei-guru Bus" is probably a better choice. The One-Day "Mei-guru Bus" ticket includes discounts on admission to some attractions in Nagoya in addition to unlimited travel by "Mei-guru Bus" for one day.
