You can enjoy various kinds of shopping here in Nagoya. There are many department stores, massive underground shopping malls at two downtown areas (Nagoya Station & Sakae). On the other hand, at the traditional shopping arcade, you can enjoy the atmosphere of good old days of Nagoya.

Tax-free Shopping
The 5% consumption tax will be refunded at authorized shops if a foreign tourist spends more than \10,000. You are requested to show your passport.

Underground Shopping malls at Nagoya Station and Sakae Most shops are open from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Not only various kinds of shops but also restaurants, coffee shops and bars are available here. Very thriving.

Osu Shopping Arcade Most shop open 10:00a.m. to 8:00 p.m. About 450 shops dealing in garment, furniture and electric appliances. Close to Kamimaezu Station of Meijo subway line.

Japanese Souvenirs

One of the 53 stage towns of the Tokaido ( one of the 5 major highways) which flourished during Edo period. Still retains the atmosphere of the traditional street lined with typical Japanese merchant houses. Many shops deal in the traditional specialty products of Nagoya Ð shibori: dappled cloth originated as a hand towel as a souvenir for the travelers of the Old Highway, later cloth for kimono which maintained the high popularity among the kimono lovers.

Flea Markets and Antique Fairs
At the flea markets, you will find a wide variety of goods. Some of them are genuine antiques, others include homemade food, vegetables and fruits. Markets generally start early in the morning.
